Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Raymond Dennet 1G, Director of the American Red Cross in Cambridge, yesterday made an appeal to the students of the College for Individual contributions in addition to the usual Student Council donation of $250.
One of the Student Council's aims on collecting contributions during registration is to eliminate bothersome appeal by charitable societies during the year. But the Red Cross simply asks students wishing to give individual funds to sign up for membership at the Phillips Brooks House.
We quote from a letter addressed by Dennett to the CRIMSON:
"Dear Sir:
"From November 11 until Thanksgiving Day the annual Red Cross Roll Call is carried on throughout the nation. It is a time when every individual is asked to join the greatest single organization whose aims are those of relieving suffering and privation where-ever disaster strikes throughout the country.
"Although the Harvard Student Council has contributed in the past a lump sum of $250.00 to the Cambridge Chapter of the Red Cross, we believe that some individuals may wish to join in this membership drive. To facilitate this we are asking all Harvard students who may wish to do so to join at Phillips Brooks House.
The Cambridge chapter, in addition to aiding Cambridge families, giving out clothing and carrying on an extensive program in life saving and first aid, contributed nearly $25,000, 14 boxes of clothing, and 10 boxes of food in the emergency flood relief drive last spring. Throughout the country similar action has been taken; always the Red Cross has been the first to answer the cries of distressed thousands after floods, fires, and great disaster.
"We sincerely feel that there may be individuals in this University who, in addition to their Student Council contributions, wish to take part in this work.
Raymond Dennett, Director
Cambridge Chapter, American Red Cross.
