Potential chess players of the class of '40 who aspire to a position on the Freshman chess team will be given the opportunity of pitting their ingenuity against the resourcefulness of seasoned chess player Sidney S. Coggan at 7.15 o'clock this evening in the Upper Common Room of the Union.
In a round of simultaneous matches former intercollegiate champion Coggan will take on as many freshman opponents as wish to participate. This exhibition, held under the direction of the Chess Club, is held annually to determine the chess strength of the incoming class, preparatory to forming the "A" and "B" teams for the fall season.
