Fielding a first-rate eleven for the first time in years, M.I.T. is expected to give the Varsity soccer team a severe test in their annual engagement on the Business School Field this afternoon, while Crimson and Gray Freshman booters also open play here at 12.15 o'clock.
For the Varsity, which has 2-0 and 5-0 victories over Amherst and Tufts and a 2-2 tie with Brown to its credit, Coach Carr will maintain his starting lineup generally in fact as of the Wednesday game. Bob White will hold down the outside right again, with Vaughan Morgas probably getting the assignment at center in place of Frank Farmdon who was hurt in a scrimmage last week.
Yardling Coach Jim MacDonald expects to start his strongest lineup to date. Jim Doughty, fullback from Exeter, is looked on to bolster the defense in his first Freshman appearance.
Both Tech teams are short on practice as compared with the home aggregations. The Varsity best Bridgewater Teachers 4-1 in its opener last Saturday, while the Freshmen have yet to play.
