1939 SEXTET DEFEATS NEWTON HIGH TEAM 10-2

Led by its newly elected captain, Austie Harding of Noble and Greenough fame, the Harvard Freshman hockey team ran rough shod over the Newton High School sextet 10-2 at the Garden yesterday afternoon. Five goals, three of them in the last minute, were rung up by the Yardlings during the second frame.

Cunningham Jumps into Second Line

Coach Clark Hodder altered his first two lines, sending Walter Hunnewell and Jim Jameson, previous second-liners, out to flank Captain Harding. The second line, therefore, found three Milton Academy puckmen, Pete Stone, Miff Scaife, and the newly elevated Jack Cunningham. The latter figured in three of his line's four tallies.

The leading defensemen were also active in the scoring line, Chink Fearon figuring in two markers and Charlie Houghton and Charlie Miles each ringing once.

Real Hostilities Break out

Besides two penalties detected on Charlie Houghton, George Aldrich, cub defenseman, enlivened the encounter by using his fists on Chandler of Newton, who had previously upset him. Chandler answered the Challenge, but both participants were taken in custody before any further damage was done.

Shortly after this fracas, Dave Wilder, substitute goal made his only stop of the second period. It was a wicked close up by Miner, but Wilder cleared beautifully
