Four free years at any college are offered by Eddie Cantor to any person who writes the best letter on the subject: "How Can America Stay Out of War".
A Fund of $5000 has been set aside for this purpose, and the winner of the competition will be given his tuition and complete living expenses for four years at any college that he chooses in the United States.
Four noted judges will read all letters received and pick the winner. They are Robert M. Hutchins, President of the University of Chicago; Frederick B. Robinson, President of the City of New York College; Ray L. Wilbur, President of Leland Stanford University; and Henry N. MacCracken, President of Vassar College. Their decision is final.
The subject of the letter was suggested by Newton D. Baker, former secretary of War, with whom the noted comedian first discussed his project.
This scholarship competition has no commercial affiliation, being entirely a personal matter with Cantor.
The competition will close on Saturday, February 22, and the award will be announced on Sunday, April 5. All letters should be mailed to Eddie Cantor, General Postoffice, Box 99, New York City.
