IN MEMORIAM

The announcement of a memorial service in the Appleton Chapel on Tuesday January 28th as a mark of respect to the late King George, should be of interest to both members of the University and residents of Cambridge. In this way does Harvard join the great movement throughout the country which has insisted, during the past week, on showing its admiration and affection for George V. It is significant to note that on the day of the King's death, flags were lowered to half-mast along the main thoroughfares of most of the great cities of the United States, and the press, Republica, Democratic or Independant joined unanimously in paying a last tribute to his memory.

Although, to some, such a service to the head of a foreign nation may seem singular, all feelings of partisanship are lost when one remembers the world-wide role he played, and the example he set. The coming service is not to George of England, but to the man who as King of England performed a difficult task so well that his death became an international loss. In view of this it is to be hoped that by its attendance at the Tuesday morning service the Harvard undergraduate body will take an active part in the national tribute to so great a figure.
