COMPETITIONS FOR RED BOOK BEGIN FEBRUARY 3

BUSINESS BOARD WILL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO DEPARTMENTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Competitions for the Art, Editorial, Photographic, and Business Boards of the Freshman Red Book will begin February 3, according to Robert M. Bunker '39, Chairman. A preliminary meeting for candidates will be held on January 23 at 7.30 o'clock in the Upper Common Room of the Union.

Ten positions will be open on the Editorial Board, six on the Photographic, and 12 on the Business. The number of those elected to the Art Board depends entirely upon the calibre and quantity of work handed in by candidates.

Setting a new precedent, the Business Board this year will be split into two departments, advertising and circulation, both under the control of Jack Andrews, Business Chairman. There will be six positions open in each department.

The competition will be six or eight weeks in length, with about an hour a day required of each candidate's time. Daily assignments will be posed on the bulletin board in the Union.

With the contracts for printing, bookbinding, and engraving signed, the Red Book is definitely taking shape. Several new innovations have been proposed by the printer, but no definite action has yet been taken by the department heads.
