ANNIE JUMP CANNON GIVEN DEGREE FROM OGLETHORPE

Annie Jump Cannon, Curator of Astronomical Photographs at the Harvard Observatory, received an honorary degree of Doctor of Science from Oglethorpe University yesterday evening.

With the exception of King George V of England, Miss Cannon was the first person in the world to be elected an honorary member of the Royal Astronomical Society of London. Among other honors she has received are Henry Draper medal of scientific achievement and the establishment in her honor of the Annie J. Cannon award for distinguished women astronomers.
