VARSITY NETMEN LOSE TO LONGWOOD C.C., 6-3

MEET HARD-FOUGHT IN SPITE OF TWO-TO-ONE SCORE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In a fill in meet between Princeton and Yale designed to keep the Harvard team from letting up, the Longwood Cricket Club defeated the Varsity tennis team 6-3 yesterday afternoon at Longwood.

The Longwood team, made up of older and more experienced players, some of whom are former Harvard men, is not in the same class as most college teams. The meet was, however, much closer than the score would indicate, all of the singles matches being well fought.

The summary:

Singles: Rice (L) defeated Captain Frank W. Jones (H) '35, 6-4, 6-1; Perkins (L) defeated Franklin P. Whitbeck '35, 6-0, 1-6, 6-1; Glidden (H) defeated Jansen (L), 4-6, 6-2, 6-3; Bidwell (L) defeated Sumner Rodman '35 (H), 12-10, 6-2; Wilkinson (H) defeated Brewer (L), 6-1, 5-7, 6-2; Robertson (H) defeated Tower (L), 5-1, 6-4, 6-2.

Doubles: Fitch and Bidwell (L) defeated Jones and Glidden (H), 6-1, 6-4; Jansen and Perkins (L) defeated Willard E. Ingalls '35 and Herbert S. Wallis '36 (H), 6-2, 6-4; Rice and Reggio (L) defeated Wilkinson and Whitbeck (H), 6-2, 7-5.
