In a nip and tuck battle for the New England Junior 200-yard free style relay title that left the spectators in doubt as to who had won, the crack Freshman relay team met defeat by a small fraction of a second last night at the heads of the Greenwood Memorial Swimming Club at the Brookline Public Baths.
The Crimson, team of Donald McKay, Charles Hutter, Peter Arioli, and Darie Berizzi were responsible for the Crimson's first victory against the Buildings earlier this season when they wen the 400-yard relay in 3.41.6 minutes, faster than the Varsity time. Their best efforts] last night, however, were no equal to the 1:42 minutes of their speedy opponents.
Because of the large number of entries in the relay event, it was necessary to hold three heats with the winners in the finals. Other teams competing besides the two already mentioned were the Roxbury Boys's Club, the Worcester Boys' Club, the Boys' Club of Boston, the Brocton Y.M.C.A., and the Boston Y.M.C.A.
