Ina Claire Hastens From Plymouth Theatre to Attend Final Rehearsal of Dramatic Club Play

"Sarah Simple" To Be Produced This Evening for the First Time in America

Coming out to Cambridge to watch a performance of the play which she has been considering as a vehicle for herself, Ina Claire, stage and screen star, was the guest of honor at the Dramatic Club's dress rehearsal last night for "Sarah Simple," the A. A. Milne comedy which will have its American premiere this evening in Brattle Hall.

Miss Claire, now appearing in "Ode to Liberty," hurried out from Boston as soon as the final curtain fell on her own play at the Plymouth, and was able to see the entire third act of "Sarah Simple." She said that she had been interested in the play herself and considered it the most amusing of Milne's comedies. The Theater Guild's crowded schedule has so far prevented her from appearing in it, but she is still keeping it in mind as a possible future production.

The rehearsal which Miss Claire saw was the Dramatic Club's final practice before presenting the show tonight at 8.30 o'clock in what will be America's first glimpse of "Sarah Simple." A second performance will be given tomorrow, also in Brattle Hall, and at the close of this later showing the Harvard House Orchestra will provide music for dancing.

In the play the cast will consist of two Dramatic Club members and three Radcliffe students. Norton Goodwin '38 and Frederick M. Miller '37 will have the male roles, and Clara West Butler, Romola Robb, and Ruth Williams will share the feminine honors.
