CREW SEASON IN FULL SWING AS '38 REPORTS

ONLY HOUSE CREWS ARE MISSING FROM SCENE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

As crew season swung into its second week on the river yesterday all except the House eights had made their appearance. Eleven Varsity boats, composed of six heavy eights and five fifties, rowed the upstream course under Coaches Whiteside and Hoople, while three Freshman barges, manned by Red Top aspirants, and two fifties struggled under Bert Haines' experienced eye. Varsity seatings in the first two shells remained substantially unchanged with Drury and Cutler setting the stroke.

Bert declined to comment upon the yearling prospects, since yesterday was his first chance to see his tutees on the water, beyond saying that they looked "about average."

Weld Boat House also opened its doors for the first time this year and many scullers reported despite the sudden coolness of the weather.
