MITCHELL CUTS SQUAD DOWN TO 29 CANDIDATES

Pointing for the rapidly approaching spring trip Coach Fred Mitchell yesterday cut his Varsity baseball squad down to the comparatively workable proportions of 29 men in the first full squad cut of the season.

Chief of the veterans were Johnny Adzigian, stellar third sacker a year ago, Bill Lincoln, on whom the main burden of the pitching will rest, Captain Dick Maguire, Drib Braggiotti, a potentially fine pitcher, Ben Prouty, the speedy outfielder, and wise-cracking Craig Woodruff.

Braman Gibbs, little Mike Hovenanian, Johnny Fitzpatrick, and Ken Hayes complete the list of those who have worn Varsity uniforms in previous seasons, but there's a long list of men with big reputations who are more than likely to push some of the oldtimers out of their 1934 berths.

Such are Tommy Bilodeau, Frank Owen, and Dick Walsh from the ex-Freshmen, all of whom starred under the tutelage of Coach Chauncey. The rest of the list includes: Blacky Blackwood, Johnny Campana, the two Victors, Martin and Royall, Bob Waldinger, Frank Wood, Jack Hoye, Bob Haley, George Tittman, Dick Sullivan, Bill Higgins, John Kellogg, and David McIntosh.
