The hard-fighting and handicapped Varsity cagers went down to defeat before the Blue five last night to the tune of 36 to 24, but did not succumb without making the Elis work.
With a makeshift lineup, the inspired Feslermen started off by running up eight points on the startled Elis before a single blue shot touched the hoop. Then the Blue team swung into action, and with long Tommie Wilson controlling the tap, Bud, Miles and his cohorts rang up twelve quick markers. Charley Kollinites tied it up with a pair of field goals as the half ended.
With the start of the second period, Harvard, again stepped into the lead, but Yale tied it up in short order, and stepped out ahead, to lead until the final whistle. Fletcher was high scorer for Harvard; for Yale Klein starred.
The summary: Score--Yale 36, Harvard 24. Goals--Klein 6, Fletcher 3, Kollinites 3, Mason 3, E. Miles 3, Beckwith 2, R. Miles 2, T. Wilson 2, Cummins 1, Gray 1. Free throws--R. Miles 3, Mason 2, Fletcher 1, Gray 1, T. Wilson 1. Time--two 20-minute periods.
