Jimmy Glidden and Tan Sargent, both members of the squash team, won their first round matches yesterday in the National Squash Tournament being held at Pittsburgh.
Glidden and Sargent went down to Pittsburgh after having taken part in the successful campaign of the Harvard team in the Massachusetts State Tournament. The Crimson squashmen emerged as State champions by defeating the Union Boat Club by two straight victories.
Yale and Princeton also fell prey to the deft Crimson racquet-wielders, and the team, coached by Harry Cowles, can be said to have had a most successful season. A few players are now aiming for the Intercollegiates, although the entries are still uncertain.
Sargent, conceded an excellent chance of winning the title plays again today as does Glidden.
