David A. Wells Prize Goes To John M. Cassels, Ph.D. '34

Winner a Fellowship Holder in Social Science Research Council

John MacIntyre Cassels, who received his Ph.D. from Harvard last year, has won the $500 David A. Wells Prize in Economics, it was announced yesterday by Harold H. Burbank, David A. Wells Professor of Political Economy. This prize is awarded annually to a student or recent graduate of the University for the best thesis embodying the results of original investigation. The prize-winning essay was entitled, "A Study of Milk Prices."

Mr. Cassels is now working primarily in the London School of Economics and holds a fellowship in the Social Science Research Council. He is a graduate of the University of Alberts and received a B.A. degree from Oxford University in 1927, where he was a Rhodes scholar. Numerous articles have appeared in economic periodicals under his name.
