HARVARD INEBRIATES REVEL IN DUMPING EXTINGUISHERS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Drunken sprees have resulted in the overturning of twenty-six fire extinguishers since the beginning of the school year and those responsible have been assessed a total of $970 in fines and damage charges, according to an announcement by University officials yesterday. In only one case have the men responsible escaped without recognition.

The custom of dumping extinguishers in moments of high exuberance is a long standing one, but the indoor sport seems to have reached new heights this year. For many years a fine of $10 has been imposed to pay for the necessary cleaning and refilling, but the infraction of rules has become so prevalent that officials are worried about adequate protection in case of fire.

An average of $40 has been the cost to each student apprehended, although this year one student spilled eight extinguishers and caused $90 damage for a total bill of $170.
