With over 50 skiers reported on the carriage road at Mt. Washington last weekend, the winter sports season has begun in earnest, according to Old Man Winter, winter sports experts of the Boston Transcript.
This weekend, with 10 inches of snow on the summit of Mt. Washington and 141/2 at Piukham Notch, the skiing should be greatly improved. Latest reports from Hanover say that there are 16 inches of snow around the summit of Mt. Moosliauke, while at Hanover skiing conditions are fair with three inches of snow and a hard crust.
At present the open slopes are good, but the trails are poor. However, the United States Weather Bureau forecasts snow and colder today, which will undoubtedly improve conditions.
