NAME JIM WOOD CHIEF OF '36 SOCCER FORCES

Regular left outside forward for two years, James A. E. Wood '37, of Riverton, New Jersey, became captain of the 1936 soccer team at an election held by 1935 lettermen yesterday. He succeeds John Dorman '36.

Individually a fast runner and possessed of a hard shot, Wood was held back in his Sophomore year by wildness. During the past season he overcame his fault, and developed a fast center cross to become one of the Crimson's scoring threats.

As a team player the new leader has paired on the attack for two years with Frank W. Vincent '36, left halfback, as New England's smoothest outside tandem. In this time the Harvard Varsity has suffered but three defeats in 17 games.

Wood graduated from Moorestown Friends' School, lives in Dunster House, and was captain of his Freshman soccer team.

In addition to himself, five other regulars, P. Robie '38 and Richard G. Powell '38, fullbacks, Daniel E. Burbank, Jr.'37, halfback, and T. Newlin Hastings '38 and Thomas Motley, 2nd '38, forwards, will return to action next year.
