PIERIAN SODALITY TO GIVE CONCERT SUNDAY

Leonard Bernstein '39, Piano Soloist, Will Offer Six Pieces in Program at Longwood Towers

Featuring Leonard Bernstein '39 as piano soloist, the Pierian Sodality will present the third concert of its current season on Sunday evening at Longwood Towers under the direction of Malcolm H. Holmes '28.

Bernstein will play a group of short pieces including the "Etude and Nocturne in F major" by Chopin and the Rhapsody No. 13" by Liszt. Soloist with the Boston Schools Symphony Orchestra for two years, Bernstein presented the premiere performance of Joseph Wagner's Piano Concerto under the direction of the composer. He was the prize winner in Fabien Sevitzky's piano contest in 1933, and has recently finished a sponsored series of recitals on the radio. He is planning to concentrate in Music.

Another feature of the program will be the arrangements by Mr. Holmes of two pieces by Ravel. The complete program is as follows: Overture to lphigenia in Aulis by Gluck-Wagner, Musik zu einem Ritterballet by Beethoven, Deux Chansons by Ravel-Holmes, Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C Major, a Piano Group, played by Mr. Leonard Bernstein '39, Valse Triste by Sibelius, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart, and Danse Espagnole by de Falla.
