DRAMATIC CLUB GIVEN BIG TREE POOL FOR PLAY

BUILDING MAY BE CONVERTED INTO THEATRE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Permission to use the Big Tree Swimming Pool as a center for its activities has been granted to the Dramatic Club by Aldrich Durant '02, Business Manager of the University.

Acquired as part of the Dudley Hall property, the pool has never been in commission for Harvard athletics.

In response to much pressure the Maintenance Department has allowed the Dramatic Club to move in temporily to build scenery for "Pudding Full of Plums", its next play.

A general reconditioning program has been necessary because of the poor conditions of the building. Lighting, heating, painting, and roof repairing have all been taken care of by the Club.

This marks the first time since 1931 that the Dramatic Club has enjoyed a more or less permanent establishment for its activities. In that year it was forced to vacate the Rogers Building which stood where the Cambridge Fire Department is now situated.

The Maintenance Department has also indicated that plans are being considered for converting the Big Tree Building into a theatre.
