Hayden Channing, Jr. '37, of Lenox, was elected Cross Country captain yesterday afternoon, succeeding Robert S. Playfair '36, who has held the post during the past year.

Channing, who prepared for college at the Canford School in England, has been outstanding in track for the past two and one half years. This fall he has been a strong man on the team, running Playfair many close races. In the H.Y.P. meet he finished third, in spite of a bad stitch in the last few miles.

For the past two years Channing has been a strong player on the Rugby Club team, going to Bermuda last spring with the squad. He is a member of the Cercle Francaise, and secretary-treasurere of the Political Union.

Daniel Tower '37, of Cohasset, was appointed manager of cross country yesterday, succeeding F. Gorham Brigham, Jr. '37 who has held the position this season. Richard Lounsberry Gregg '38, of Calumet, Michigan, was appointed assistant manager.
