Frederick Sumnor Mead '37, of Brookline, former comptroller of the University, and editor of the University Directory, Harvard's Military Record of the World War, and the Alumni Directory, died yesterday in the Phillips House.

Retired in 1926 from official duties in the College, he was awarded an honorary degree of Master of Arts. Since that time he has been inactive, suffering during the past weeks from a sertous illness.
