Jacobsen, Ferrell Receive du Pont, Rogers Fellowships

Two fellowships, totalling $3,075 have been awarded in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, it was announced today.

The special du Pont fellowship for work in the chemical Laboratories here is being given to Robert P. Jacobsen, of Crete, Nebraska. He received an M.A. from George Washington University in '31 and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in '35.

James O. Ferrell 3G, of Decatur, Alabama, has received the Rogers Fellowship. He got an A.B. from the University of Alabama in '31, and an A.M. here last year.

The Rogers fellowship was established in 1869 by Henry B. Rogers '22 for the encouragement of scholarship "in all sound literature and learning, except science strictly so-called." Recipients of the fellowships may study abroad.
