SIX MINUTE HANDICAP GRANTED BY HARRIERS

Six and a half minutes after the first harrier leaves the barrier this afternoon, Jaakko's five Varsity entries will give chase in the annual University Cross Country Handicap Meet.

Starting at Scratch will be Cyrus C. DeCoster '37, John R. O'Neil '36, Eugene H. Walker '37, Le Moyne White '36, and Charles C. Worth '37.

Not merely an entity in itself, Coach Mikkola will use this race as a time trial to fill the four remaining berths in both Varsity and Freshman entries for the Dartmouth-New Hampshire triangular next week. The six sure starters in each of next Friday's events will not race this afternoon, taking advantage of two continuous weeks of practice without a training break.

In allotting handicaps to the Yearlings, Jaakko encountered serious difficulty, as few have ever run the four and one-half mile course before. Last year, he greatly underestimated their prowess, with the result that several finished before a record-breaking Bob Playfair hove in sight.

The race will start at 3.30 o'clock, with the supposedly slower runners starting first, and four other groups getting off at various intervals. In this way, there will be no need for mathematical calculation at the finish, the first man over the line winning.

Although there are two distancemen of stellar quality in the Business School, neither will run.
