Radio broadcasts will carry the voice of the Chief Executive from the White House in Washington tonight to the listeners at President Roosevelt's Second Annual Birthday Ball in Memorial Hall, which has been wired especially for this occasion.
Benedict Fitz-Gerald '08, chairman of the Entertainment Committee, has arranged a program of music to be played in Sanders Theatre from 8.30 to 9.30 o'clock, after which there will be dancing.
Two sons of former Presidents and two sons of Presidents Roosevelt will be president at the ball: Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. '37, John A. Roosevelt '38, Francis G. Cleveland '26, and James A. Garfield, already have invitations.
Franklin P. Whitbeck '35 and Edward R. Sargent '36 will give several specialties on the banjo, and Harvard's Chicago Quartet, a student club, will also perform.
All former classmates of President Roosevelt have been invited to the Birthday ball, and a large number of responses have been received, several of the classmates being from Cambridge. Among those present will be Edward A. Counihan '04, Judge of the Probate Court, and Franklin Ford '04, United States District Attorney for Massachusetts. This will be the second reunion of President Roosevelt's classmates within a year, as a gathering was held this summer at the White House.
