NO FIRES IN YARD

New Safety Systems Installed For Protection

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In an effort to avoid such re-occurrence of Yard fires as that which demolished the first Harvard Hall, a fire alarm system has recently been established, consisting of automatic gongs and high powered searchlights in conspicuous places on the Freshman dormitories and lecture halls.

The bells are connected with the Rindge Fire Station and the Apted sanctum. Whether automatic sprinkler systems have been installed in the newly renovated Hollis, Stoughton, and Holworthy Halls it has not been possible to ascertain. The gongs not only serve to give a general alarm of fire, but also serve effectively to locate the hydrants.
