The annual race for the empty honor of being called the championship University eight was won yesterday over the Henley course by the second Freshman crew against Whiteside's combination boat and the third Freshman shell. This race is open to all eight-oared boats in the University with the exception of the first and second Varsity and the first Freshman.
The winning crew, stroked by Francis, covered the course in 7 minutes fiat.
The seetings were as follows:
Combination Third Varsity and Varsity fifties crew; stroke, Reece; 7, Weld; 6, Knowles; 5, Islin; 4, Dunbar; 3, Piper; 2, Nichols; bow Pfaelzer; cox, Harmon.
Second Freshman; stroke, Francis; 7, Watson; 6, Simmons; 5, Lloyd; 4, Husband; 3, Storey; 2, Colony; bow, Irwin; cox, Barker.
