SEPTEMBER 18, 1936 IS DATE OF TERCENTENARY

SPECIAL HISTORICAL EXHIBITS TO BE SHOWN

With the announcement that the formal celebration of the three hundredth anniversary of the founding of the College will take place September 18, 1936, plans for the two or three day program are well underway. The date has been selected because it was on September 18, 1636 (new style) that the Massachusetts Legislature passed the act founding Harvard.

As director of the Tercentenary Celebration the Corporation has appointed Jerome Davis Green '96, New York banker. He has played an active part in University affairs as Secretary to President Eliot from 1901 to 1905, as secretary to the Corporation from 1905 to 1911, and as an overseer. He is a trustee for the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research and of the Rockefeller Foundation and a member of the Lee, Higginson & Co.

Arrangements are being made to open museums, laboratories, libraries and observatories for the alumni and guests who are expected. Possessions of historical interest, not usually shown, will be displayed. Also a service of trained guides will be arranged to show visitors about the University.
