Varsity Tennis Squad Loses To Princeton Outfit, 6 to 3

All the Harvard Varsity tennis team's hopes for an undefeated record and an unchallenged claim to eastern tennis supremacy were blasted yesterday afternoon, when a 6-3 drubbing was administered to them by a fighting team of Princeton Tigers. The Crimson team was seriously handicapped by the fact that Sandy Davenport, stellar number one man, was suffering from an arm injury which prevented him from offering more than a slight resistance to Thomas D. Flynn, Tiger star, who defeated him 6-0, 6-2. The Varsity will meet Dartmouth this afternoon at 2 o'clock on the Divinity courts, while the Jayvees will battle the Andover outfit which downed the Freshmen early in the week.

The Freshman tennis team had little trouble in shutting out M.I.T. yesterday, 9-0. The only close matches of the day were the second and third singles where William Minot, Jr. defeated Gay 6-0, 6-8, 8-6, and Lawrence Ross conquered Cebalos, 6-2, 6-3.

The Junior Varsity team will have to rise to great heights today to protect their undefeated record, when they meet the strong Andover team on the Jarvis Field courts at 2 o'clock. The Andover men broke the Freshman's winning streak earlier in the week, and are expected to put up a strong front against the J.V.'s.
