Junior Varsity teams except those in football and crew will probably be informal next year, with no scheduled contests. The difficulty of scheduling games with Junior Varsity teams of other colleges which have made Junior Varsity teams informal, notably in the case of Yale, undoubtedly will precipitate this action on the part of the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports.
As a result of such a change, Varsity squads will be a little larger than at present and men presently engaged on Junior Varsity teams will be available for House athletic teams. In the event that the interest and the ability of athletes warranted the formation of a Junior Varsity team for any one sport, informal contests will be arranged with outside teams and such Junior Varsity teams will have adequate coaching instruction.
J. V. Crew Men Get Varsity H
In the meantime the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports at Harvard has voted to award the Varsity "H" to any Junior Varsity man rowing against Yale in his Senior year, while the present requirement which makes a man who rowed in the Varsity race against Yale or for any two years on the Junior Varsity crew eligible for the major insignia will still hold good. This rule awarding insignia to a Senior rowing in the Junior Varsity against Yale was in effect prior to 1927 and is made retroactive to that date.
Accordingly, the Committee has voted the varsity rowing "H" to Alastair D. Robertson '33, Armistead B. Rood '31, Rodgers Donaldson '30, David S. M. Lanier '28, Robert W. Herr '28, George Bancroft '27, John B. Olmstead, II, '27, John H. Harwood, Jr. '27 and Robert S. Riley '27.
