Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
Harvard swimmers placed in four events but Captain Ed Stowell lost a close race to Champion Taylor Drysdale of the University of Michigan as representatives of the West triumphed over the East 47-37 in the swimming meet held in the Brookline baths last night.
Only three yards separated Stowell and Drysdale as they came into the finish line, in the record time of two minutes, 36 1-5 seconds. Richard T. Fisher '36 placed third in the event. M. Victor Leventritt '35 and George C. Scott '34 took second places in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard freestyle respectively. Johnny Higgins of Michigan won the breaststroke swim in two minutes and 33 seconds setting a new N.E.A.A.U. record.
The summary of those events in which Harvard men placed is as follows:
200-yard Breaststroke Swim--Won by Higgins (Michigan); second, M. Victor Leventritt '35; third, Lawrence (Michigan). Time--2 minutes, 33 seconds. (New N.E.A.A.U. record)
220-yard Backstroke Swim--Won by Drysdale (Michigan); second, Edward E. Stowell '34; third, Richard T. Fisher '36. Time--2 minutes, 36 1-5 seconds. (New N.E.A.A.U. record)
50-yard Freestyle Swim--Won by Holland (Springfield); second, George C. Scott '34; third, Kamienski (Michigan). Time--25 1-5 seconds.
