Italians Accuse Salvemini As Organizer Of Bombing

Gactano Salvemini, Laure de Bosis Professor of Italian Literature, is one of the seven Italians charged by the Italian government with setting off a bomb in St. Peter's Cathedral last June 25 an Associated Press dispatch states. Four of the seven Italians are now under arrest and awaiting trial in Rome; two others along with Professor Salvemini are now out of Italy.

Professor Salvemini was accused of being one of the organizers of the plot, which included, according to the Italian government, a conspiracy against the life of Premier Mussolini. The explosion injured four people and spread panic among a gathering of Holy Year Pilgrims. Professor Salvemini could not be reached for a statement last night.

In 1927 Professor Salvemini came to America, and lectured in New York in 1927 and 1929. He was appointed visiting Professor of International Relations at Yale in 1932.
