Harvard's annual Senior Life Saving courses for examiners began yesterday and will continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 o'clock and from 4 to 5 o'clock, in the New Indoor Athletic Building. This course is open to all members of the University who are over 20 years of age, who are Senior Life Savers, and who can pass the eligibility test.
Last year there were 108 Senior Life Savers and 38 examiners in the University, twice the number in any other college. The eligibility test for the course consists of swimming one-quarter mile, free style, 100 yards on first the back and then the side using only the legs, retrieving an object 10 feet in water three times without diving, and swimming 25 yards under water. The men who become examiners will help take charge of the Senior Life Saving classes which will start after Easter vacation. These courses are being given under the supervision of Coaches Hal Ulen, Bob Muir, and Frank Vaughn.
