Judges Name 14 Students To Compete Further for Boylston and Lee Wade Prizes for Speaking

Eliminations for the Boylston and Lee Wade Prizes for Elocution were held in Emerson D yesterday afternoon, commencing at 1 o'clock. The thirtyfour contestants were judged by Robin S. Hillyer '17, associate Professor of English; Gustavus H. Maynadier '89, assistant professor of English; Frederic C. Packard '20, assistant professor Public Speaking; Robert W. Coues '95, instructor in English; and Norman W. Mattis, instructor in Public Speaking.

Those competitors retained after the nominations yesterday are John Cromwell '36, Charles B. Feibleman '36, George Gore '34, Richard P. Harmon '35, Victor H. Kramer '35, Melvin Levy '36, Leonard C. Lewin '36, Asa E. Smith '34, Malcolm I. Ruddock '34, George Sullivan '36, William E. Smith '35, Richard P. Wheeler ocC, Charles W. Youngblut '34, John R. Yungblut '35. The contestants were judged on the is of their total relative effectiveness.

Those who survived the first series of eliminations will meet in the New Lecture Hall on Friday at 1 o'clock. At this time the second trials will be held. All competitors who will not be able to be present at 1 o'clock will report an hour later at the same place.
