Recognized For Contributions In Field of Biology

Doctor William Morton Wheeler, professor of entomology and dean of the Bussey Institution from, 1908 to 1929, has been named an officer of the Legion of Honor by the French government. This award was made in recognition of Professor Wheeler's contributions in the field of biology and his sympathetic appreciation of science in France.

Professor Wheeler is the author of several well-known books, "Ants, Their Structure, Development, and Behavior," "Social Life among the Insects," and is a contributor to various zoological publications.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Natural History. American Academy of Arts and Sciences; member of the American Society of Naturalists. National Academy of Sciences; and a corresponding member of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences.
