Dixon Funeral Services to Take Place at 2:30 Tomorrow

Professor of Anthropology Served Here For Forty Years

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Funeral services for Roland Burrage Dixon '97, professor of Anthropology, who died yesterday morning after a long illness, at his home at Bare Hill, Harvard, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock in the Forest Hills Crematory chapel.

In addition to his work here, where he was intimately connected with the Peabody Museum as Curator of Ethnology, Mr. Dixon made several expeditions to Mongolia and Siberia. He made valuable contributions to the knowledge of the physiography and geological formation of Northern Asia and established reciprocal relations between Siberian Museums and similar institutions in the United States in 1901, which have resulted in much valuable information concerning Mongolia.

Mr. Dixon served in 1918 and 1919 as a member of the American Commission to Negotiate Peace. He was a former president of the Anthropological Society and wrote several books on anthropological and ethnological matters, including "The Building of Cultures" in 1928; "The Racial History of Man" in 1923, and "Oceanic Mythology" in 1916. He never married, and his only survivors are cousins.
