Although co-captain Peter Ward '36 is the only letterman returning this year, Coach Henry Lamar is confident that the Varsity boxing team will repeat its win of a year ago over M.I.T. in the opening meet of this season, which will take place tonight at 8 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building. There will be competition in eight classes, in accordance with the Intercollegiate regulations, including the heavyweight division.
Ward, one of the leading 135-pound boxers in intercollegiate competition, will face Fred Claffee, a newcomer in the Tech lineup. Ward is highly regarded by Coach Lamar, who believes that the co-captain will be a strong contender for the intercollegiate championship this year. Ward decisively defeated Proctor Wetherill, M.I.T. captain, in the dual meet last year.
