Forty-three candidates for the Varsity hockey team turned out at the hockey meeting held yesterday afternoon at the Varsity Club. Coach Joe Stubbs expressed his hopes for a successful season, declaring that whereas previous teams have been willing to suffer defeat courageously, this year's team will prove victorious.
Of the 43 who turned out at yesterday's meeting, the following are letter men returning from last year: Thornton Brown '36, John M. Callaway '37, Samuel R. Callaway '36, Alfred S. Dewey '36, Arthur F. Duffey '36, Benjamin H. Hallowell '36, Dunbar Holmes '35, Michael S. Hovenanian '36, William A. Lincoln '35, Captain William P. Watts '35, Richard A. Dow '35, Ashton Emerson '36, Robert H. Waldinger '36, Francis E. Denny '37, and Louis B. Carr '37. Among the football men who have received two weeks' leave of absence from training are Thomas H. Bilodeau '37, Leo A. Ecker '37, George S. Ford '37, and Frederick R. Moseley '36.
The schedule this season for the varsity team is as follows: Tuesday, December 11, M.I.T.; Tuesday, December 18, Boston University; Friday, December 21, McGill at Montreal; Wednesday, January 9, McGill; Saturday, January 12, Princeton; Tuesday, January 15, Olympic Club; Saturday, February 9, Dartmouth at Hanover; Tuesday, February 12, Brown at Providence; Saturday, February 16, Princeton at Princeton; Monday, February 18, Princeton playoff; Friday, February 22, Dartmouth; Wednesday, February 27, Dartmouth playoff; Saturday, March 2, Yale; Saturday, March 9, Yale; at New Haven; Wednesday, March 13, Yale playoff.
