Fighting Crimson Eleven Meets Strong Yale Outfit Today in New Haven Bowl

New Haven, Conn. November 23--Prospects of a wet, badly sliced field greeted the Harvard team when it arrived ni New Haven today. A steady drizzle has been falling all afternoon and the turf received a thorough soaking when it was uncovered for signal practice.

The cleats of the Crimson eleven added to the havoc previous games have wreaked on the turf in the Yale Bowl with the result that the field has taken on the appearance of an earthquake center that has suffered an unusually bad disturbance.

The two teams that will fight out the annual classic on this field tomorrow both seem confident of victory, but the Elis' fighting enthusiasm appear to have been dulled by the long ordeal of a week ago. Both physically and mentally the Blue is far off the peak which it reached on the eve of the clash with the Tiger, while Harvard's young team impressed observers with its optimism and cheerfulness as it ran through a skeleton practice today.

Great anxiety is felt by the Yale supporters for the condition of the star fullback, Kim Whitehead, whose injury has not recovered as rapidly as was expected. Several of his teammates have also suffered lesser mishaps during the last two games and Coach Ducky Pond is much worried that his injured list will not permit Yale to field its full strength tomorrow.

Despite this feeling in the Eli camp is that however lethargic Yale's play may be tomorrow, enough of the brilliant performance of the Princeton affair will be retained to set back Harvard's inexperienced eleven.
