HARVARD PISTOL CLUB GETTING IN PRACTICE

Sharpshooters Expect Many Matches; Both Metropolitan Pistol League Contests and Others

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With matches looming early in December, the Harvard Pistol Club is holding weekly practices in Memorial Hall every Wednesday evening under the instruction of Lieutenant Bixby of the Harvard R. O. T. C. The club, with about 25 candidates, expects to participate in twelve or more matches this season.

The club will be represented by a team in the Metropolitan Pistol League which includes teams of Police, National Guards, and Civilians. These matches will all be shot off in "shoulder-to-shoulder" fashion. In the intercollegiate matches, however, each team will do its shooting at home and the results will be telegraphed simultaneously to each other by both teams.

Open To All Men

The Pistol Club is not restricted to members of the Military Science course. Interested outsiders may not only join and benefit by Lieutenant Bixby's instruction, but are equally eligible to compete in the Metropolitan Pistol league matches. However, most of the challenges from other Universities specify that the team be composed of R. O. T. C. students and, in these cases, others may not compete.

Challenges have already been received from the University of Missouri and Virginia Military Institute, and others are expected. Harvard has not issued any challenges as yet, but will do so soon, so that the club may enjoy a busy season.
