VARSITY "A" AND "B" ELEVENS SHOW EXCEPTIONAL PEP

Apparently the realization that Princeton is practically up in Harvard territory was just what the Varsity needed as tonic, for yesterday the squad jumped into action with more life than it has shown in any session this week. It was the last real workout before the Tiger and Johnnie Harvard renew relations, and both "A" and "B" teams were clicking nicely.

Forward pass work received a good deal of attention at this practice, which was one of the shortest and snappiest of the year. By 4.15 o'clock the gridsters were meandering homeward, though still not definitely certain about tomorrow's starting lineup.

Doubtful Points

Left guard and left half back remain the most doubtful positions, though it begins to look almost certain that Bill Lane, not Bob Brookings, will be the starter in the line job. Whether Freddy Moseley or Chet Litman will have the running back assignment is in the lap of the gods and Eddie Casey.

For the rest, Bob Haley, Elley Jackson, and George Hedblom are reasonably sure choices to be behind the line when hostilities open. But the Sophomore light horse backfield combination of Tommy Bilodeau, Leo Ecker, Blackie Black- in some fine performances lately and the chances are that it will have plenty of service tomorrow. The Sophomores seem to like working together and their experience as a unit on the Freshman outfit a year ago gives them the cohesion of a veteran combine. The interesting thing will be to see if Casey will risk their comparative inexperience and let them operate as a unit.

Lou Little Says

On the subject of Bill Lane, who was under discussion a minute ago, some pessimists seem to think he won't be able to transfer his talents from tackle to guard in the course of one week. The fact is he has held down both jobs before, and right now Adam Walsh feels he will do better at guard than at tackle. Walsh isn't the only man who has confidence in Bill, for no less an authority than Lou Little of Columbia claims that Bill, who like Little comes from the municipality of Leominster, has the makings of a very fine linesman.
