OXFORD AND COLUMBIA DEBATERS ARE CHOSEN

Edward M. Rowe '27, Director of Debating announced yesterday that seven memberss of the Harvard Debating Council were retained after the trials on Friday. Those who qualified were Frederick DeW. Bolman '35, Powers McLean '35, Arthur G. Sullivan '36, Harold W. Danser '37, Victor H. Kramer '35, Hubert H. Nexon '37, and Thomas H. Quinn '36.

From the first three names will be chosen two, who will go to New York on December seventh to debate with Oxford over the combined networks of the National Broadcasting Company and the British Broadcasting Company. The debate will be either a split-team debate on the subject, "Resolved: that this house considers a censorship of news desirable," or a straight debate with Harvard taking the negative of the question, "Resolved: that there be an Anglo-American alliance to preserve world peace."

The remaining four will form the squad from which a team will be chosen to debate against Columbia at Meriden, Connecticut on December tenth. The subject will be, "Resolved: that the private manufacture of munitions be abolished."
