Speaking in the Poetry Room of Widener Library tomorrow afternoon, Sean O'Casey, Irish dramatist, will give the first Morris Gray Poetry Talk of the year. Mr. O'Casey will talk on "The Old Drama and the New."
Invitations Sent Out
Invitations to the talk have been sent out from the Poetry Room this week. After this, the series will be in charge of the English department, which will issue invitations and make all other arrangements for the affairs.
The talks were established by Morris Gray '87, who gave the College a fund to be used for lectures on modern poetry. About six talks are given each year, usually by well known poets and writers.
Well-Known Dramatist
Mr. O'Casey, who will speak this week, wrote "Within the Gates," now playing in New York. As a dramatist, he is known for his power, and is described in the invitations as belonging to "what might be called the Post-Revolutionary period of Anglo-Irish Literature." Since his early successful plays, Mr. O'Casey has lived in London, previously residing in Dublin.
