New York, Nov. 13--United States Davis Cup hopes for 1935, already on the wane, reached new depths of gloom tonight with the signing of Lester Stoefen for professional tennis.
The third ranking amateur, national indoor singles champion and co-holder of the world's double title, was signed by Bill O'Brien for an extended tour starting in Madison Square Garden, January 9, bringing into professional tennis the greatest doubles combination in the game.
