SEX QUESTION

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

No longer need the periodically recurring "sex question" plague the unimaginative and unitiated Freshman, so newly arrived from the prep school campus, since the recently published "Guide Book," prepared by men supposedly well versed in worldly matters, will endeavor to supply the young neophytes with confidential information concerning all the "proper" rendezvous and careful analyses of the local college women. But already rising in righteous indignation the college women of Boston and the environs have hurried vindictive cries of derision upon the all-knowing authors and the wary Freshman will do well to consider their caustic criticism.

Refusing to be catalogued and classified as "a nice lot and bright," "meek," "Bohemian," "hearty and robust," and "swanky," the college girls retort with epithets and descriptions frank enough to disturb the most indifferent men. How disillusioned and perplexed must be the Freshmen who discovers a stupid Radcliffe lass or a Bohemian Wellesleyian. What tragedy and grief to find the Guide had erred. His weighty problem still unsolved where can he turn for guidance and initiation? The dank silence of his lonely room give forth no answer and his brooding only lessens his faith in humankind. Most miserable is he who finds all women unclassifiable and all colleges a pot-pourri of femininity.

Unguided and yet naive the Freshman may turn quickly the page that once seemed to hold the key to unknown mysteries and find the recipes for Martinis, Alexanders, and Mint Juleps. There among the vintage of the Gods he may drown his sorrows and awake to find, perhaps, if he is resourceful, the elusive answer. And then he may know his fatal naivete led him to the solution but on a page not labeled "Sex Question."
