New York, Oct. 8--Cautious traders too to the sidelines again tonight as conflicting rumors depressed the market.
Most observers continued optimistic, but all counseled care in operating under present conditions.
A few of the rumors which affected Wall Street today:

Favorable dividend action may be expected soon on important stocks.
