STATE WILL CLAMP DOWN ON INSURANCE PERMIT EVADERS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The ax will fall on out-of-state drivers who neglect to get their non-resident permits, according to a statement by Robert L. Devine, Supervising Inspector of Equipment of the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

"The Whole purpose of the permit law is to make sure that all drivers in Massachusetts have liability insurance. Permits are issued free, and so far we have been lenient in prosecuting for failure to apply within the thirty-day limit, but more men are to be put to the probing of violations this fall. My advice to any non-resident driver would be to apply immediately for the permit."
