The American Association of Variable Star Observers will hold their annual meeting at the Harvard University Observatory today and tomorrow. About 75 amateur astronomers from all parts of the United States will attend.

The first award of the Association's merit prize will be made Saturday evening to Leslie C. Peltier, of Delphos, O., one of the most distinguished amateur astronomers in the world--the discoverer of comets and of a nova. Mr. Peltier is known as the outstanding observer of variable stars in America. He is about 30 years old, is employed by a garage in Delphos, and has never been to college.
