TWO ANTI-NAZIS FREED UPON CONANT'S REQUEST

President Conant's plea for leniency yesterday brought freedom to the two girls arrested last June for their agitation against Hanfstaengl. The two girls, Sarah Barr and Jean Lenthier, had chained themselves to benches and fences in the Yard, and, temporarily secure from police interference had repeatedly interrupted President Conant's speech with cries of "Down with Hanfstaengl!"

At a previous hearing, the two girls had been fined $50 each. President Conant, however, felt that the punishment was too severe in view of the fact that no damage was done. Unusual interest marked the trial as students of Radcliffe and Harvard crowded the court-room in response to circulars and post-cards sent out during the week.
